The immediate past Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Ms. Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, has refused to hand over to the newly appointed Acting MD, Mr. James Agyenim Boateng, despite his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama weeks ago.
Our investigation revealed that Ms. Duah-Yentumi has not only refused to hand over but has also locked the Managing Director’s office and taken the keys. This has prevented Mr. Agyenim-Boateng from assuming his duties.
On January 24, 2025, President Mahama appointed Mr. Agyenim-Boateng as the Acting MD of SIC Insurance Company Limited, replacing Ms. Duah-Yentumi, who was appointed by the previous NPP administration.
When Mr. Agyenim-Boateng visited the company headquarters on January 30 to introduce himself to the management, Ms. Duah-Yentumi refused to attend the meeting. This meeting is typically used for a smooth transition of power.
Staff members have expressed shock and disappointment at Ms. Duah-Yentumi’s actions, describing them as “a shame.” One staff member, who wished to remain anonymous, stated:
“We’re under the Ministry of Finance, and the Minister has officially communicated Mr. Agyenim-Boateng’s appointment. I don’t see why the former MD should refuse to hand over. Like our new MD, Ms. Duah-Yentumi was appointed by the former NPP government. With the change in government, everyone knows there will be changes in management. What is she holding on to?”
The staff member emphasized that the delay in handing over is negatively impacting the company’s operations and urged Ms. Duah-Yentumi to hand over to Mr. Agyenim-Boateng immediately.
