Former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, has emerged victorious in the Ashanti Regional Council of State election. He secured 49 votes, leading the race by a significant margin.
The election results, announced on Monday, February 17, 2025, showed Nkansah Boadu Nana Ayeboafo trailing behind with 35 votes, while Daniel Anarfi Yamoah garnered only 1 vote. The other candidates did not receive any votes.
Out of the expected 86 votes, 85 valid votes were cast, with no rejected ballots. This outcome reflects a strong endorsement of Yaw Owusu Obimpeh’s candidacy by the electorate in the Ashanti Region.
Obimpeh’s election comes after the suspension of the first election last week due to chaos that erupted during the process.
