In a bid to enhance security and visibility, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has embarked on an ambitious project to restore 70% of the city’s streetlights within 50 days.
Despite initial setbacks, including the theft of cables, Minister Ocloo remains resolute in her commitment.
“We will meet our target within 50 days. Even though we have had some challenges, we went around and found out that many of the cables were stolen, but we are making sure that we meet our target,” she stated.
To fast-track the project, Minister Ocloo has enlisted the support of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), tasking them to report on their progress.
“We have tasked the MMDCEs, so we are on a working visit to find out from them how far they have gone. We are also visiting the others as well. We want to make sure that by March 10, we should see something,” she added.
With the deadline set for March 10, residents can expect to see significant improvements in street lighting, marking a major milestone in Accra’s urban development.
