The National Identification Authority (NIA) has issued a public reminder that Ghanaians can still obtain their first Ghana Card for free at any of the 276 Operational District Offices across the country.
However, the NIA has introduced fees for first-time card issuance at its Premium Centres, as approved by Parliament in 2023.
The fees are aimed at streamlining the process of obtaining the Ghana Card while ensuring transparency in the fees charged for various services.
According to the NIA, the approved fees for Premium Centres are as follows: GH₵310.00 for first issuance, GH₵125.00 for card replacement, and GH₵420.00 for record updates with card replacement.
Additional fees include GH₵70.00 for nationality updates and GH₵310.00 for record updates only at Premium Centres.
The Ghana Card serves as a crucial identification document, facilitating access to government services and other essential activities.
The NIA encourages citizens to take advantage of the free issuance at district offices or opt for the paid services at Premium Centres.
