Deputy Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Sampson Ahi, has pledged to establish a cocoa processing company in the Western North region before the end of his tenure.
During his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Ahi stressed the importance of industrialization in driving economic growth and job creation, particularly in agricultural areas.
Ahi’s plan aligns with the government’s broader agenda to boost local production, add value to raw materials, and create employment opportunities.
He emphasized, “As captured in the NDC manifesto, we will embark on industrialization. I will be happy to see that by the end of my tenure, we will have a cocoa processing company so that we will have cocoa beans processed.”
Ahi also plans to explore other areas with competitive advantages in farm produce, aiming to establish multiple factories to process various farm products.
He stated, “I will also look at other areas where they have a competitive advantage with regards to farm produce so that many factories can be established for many of the farm produce to be processed.”
